Helind Enerji successfully designed and installed a high-performance solar thermal (solar water heating) system for the production base of Schlumberger, one of the global leaders of the oil and gas industry. This project is an important step towards optimizing traditional energy costs at industrial facilities and reducing the carbon footprint (ESG goals).

📊 Project summary

  • Client: Schlumberger
  • System type: vacuum tube solar collectors (solar water heater)
  • Number of collectors: 27 high-performance panels
  • Number of vacuum tubes: 810 in total
  • Thermal capacity: ~54 kW
  • Daily output: 6,500+ liters (more than 6.5 tons) of hot water

🎯 The challenge: hot water demand in industry

Heavy industry sites, plants and factories need large volumes of hot water both for technological processes and for the daily needs of a large workforce (showers, cleaning). Regularly heating this much water with electricity or natural gas creates serious monthly operating expenses (OPEX) for companies. On top of that, global companies are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of their operations.

🛠️ Helind's solution: a 54 kW vacuum collector system

After analyzing the client's needs and the geographical position of the roof, our engineers chose a vacuum tube solar collector system. Why vacuum tubes?

Because, unlike ordinary flat panels, this technology retains heat as much as possible thanks to vacuum insulation. This means the collectors heat water efficiently not only on hot summer days but even in cold and cloudy weather. As part of the project, 27 special collectors with a total of 810 vacuum tubes were installed on the facility's roof.

📈 Results and benefits

With the system in operation, Schlumberger gained the following benefits:

  1. 6.5 tons of hot water a day: the system supplies the facility with more than 6,500 liters of free hot water every day, sharply reducing dependence on the grid.
  2. A radical cut in costs: noticeable savings on the traditional energy (gas/electricity) used to heat water, with the system paying for itself (ROI) in a short time.
  3. Environmental contribution: this ~54 kW "green" thermal station prevents the burning of fossil fuels and keeps tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere.
  4. Long life and minimal maintenance: made from stainless materials, this industrial-grade station runs without interruption for many years with minimal servicing.
