1. What does an inverter do?
Solar panels produce direct current (DC) from the sun. But your fridge, TV and air conditioner run on alternating current (AC – 220 V).
The inverter's main job is to make this conversion. But modern "smart inverters" do more:
- they protect the system's safety;
- they connect to the internet and give you live reports through a mobile app;
- they regulate voltage fluctuations on the grid.
2. Which inverter is right for you?
In our projects, we mainly use three types of technology:
A) String inverters
The most widespread and cost-effective type. The panels are connected in series and feed into one central inverter.
- Ideal for: large, unshaded roofs and industrial facilities.

B) Hybrid inverters
Essential for the "battery" systems we covered in earlier articles. They manage the panels, the battery and the grid at the same time.
- Ideal for: areas with frequent power cuts and anyone who wants full independence.

C) Microinverters
A small inverter is installed behind each panel.
- Ideal for: very complex, shaded roofs (if one panel is in shade, the others keep working). But they cost more.
3. Why do we choose Tier-1 brands?

- Precise MPPT technology: these brands' devices can "squeeze out" energy even when the sun is at its weakest (early morning and late afternoon). Cheap inverters simply stay off at these times.

4. Inverter noise and location
People often ask: "Does the inverter make noise?"
In older models, cooling fans were noisy. But modern Huawei and Solplanet inverters use passive cooling technology. That means there is no rotating fan inside; they are completely silent.
We can easily mount them on a house wall, in a garage or even on a balcony (with IP65 water resistance certification).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Question: Should the inverter power match the panel power?
Answer: No, we usually choose an inverter slightly "smaller" than the panels (DC/AC ratio of 1.2). For example, connecting a 5 kW inverter to 6 kW of panels is more efficient because the inverter "wakes up" earlier in the morning. Our engineers calculate this.
Question: How long is the inverter warranty?
Answer: A 5–10 year warranty is standard. Panels last longer (30 years) than inverters, so the inverter may need to be replaced once over the life of the system.
Question: What will I be able to see on my phone?
Answer: With systems installed by Helind, the mobile app shows you current generation, the money you saved today and the equivalent in trees planted. We do this with our own locally made Data Logger devices.
